Anterior Tibial Tendon Injuries
Anterior Tibial Tendon Tenosyovitis
- middle-aged with inflammatory arthritis=pain, swelling, tenderness in anterior ankle. RX=walking cast/removable boot/NSAIDS, cortisone inject may give dramatic relieve, but may contribute to rupture
- elderly, vague dorsal foot pain.
- RX=molded AFO for 6 months and then for long periods of activity; repair extremely difficult in older pts with poor tissues
