Tarsometatarsal Arthritis

Arthritis of the tarsometatarsal joints is initially treated with NSAIDSs, medial longitudinal arch supports, a mid-foot reinforced shoe last, and possibly  steroid injections.  If refractory to conservative treatment, consideration should be given for arthrodesis. Arthrodesis is the definitive procedure to eliminate motion and therefore relieve the pain.
