DDH Xray DDH Ultrasound

DDH Xray

  1. Acetabular Roof Angle: Normal <30°.
  2. Hilgenreiner's line
  3. Normal femoral head located medial to Perkin's line and inferior to Hilgenreiner's line
  4. Perkin's Line
  5. Shenton's Line: Normal
  6. Shenton's Line: abnormal (broken)
  7. Abnormal femoral head located lateral to Perkin's line and superior to Hilgenreiner's line.
  8. Abnormal Acetabular Roof Angle: >30°.
  • Xrays are better than ultrasound for patients > 6 months old.

DDH Ultrasound

  1. Alpha (Graphe Angle): formed by lines drawn along the ilium and one drawn along the acetabulum. Normal >60°. <50°=DDH
  2. Ilium
  3. Acetabular labrum
  4. Gluteus musculature
  5. Capsule
  6. Humeral head
  • Ultrasound indicated for patients < 6 months old.
