Juvenile Idiopathic Scoliosis

  • age 3-10
  • similar to adolescent, often associated with intraspinal abnormality, most often syringomyelia and Arnold-Chiari malformations.
  • 70% of curves progress

  • MRI indicated

Juvenile Scoliosis Treatment

  • Serial casting for progressive curve >25 degrees followed by CTLSO or TLSO
  • Growing rod for curves >60 degrees.  Will eventually require A/PSFI
