Trigger Digits Etiology / Epidemiology / Natural History
- Thumbs trigger digtis are common
- Finger trigger digits are uncommon
- Aquired, not congenital
- Sporadic occurance
- 30% bilateral
Trigger Digits Anatomy
- Finger related to anomalous anatomy: abnormal lumbrical insertions, proximal decussaiotn of the FDS
Trigger Digits Clinical Evaluation
- Palpable nodule of the flexor pollicis longus. May have triggering or a fixed flexion contracture if the IP joint.

Trigger Digits Classification / Treatment
- Thumb, infants: may resolve spontaneously by age 1 in up to 50% of patients.
- Thumb >1y/o: release of A1 pulley
- Finger: more extensive release is required. Need to expose the lumbrical, A1 pulleys, A# pulleys may beed ecision of the slip of the FDS.
