Sindig-Larsen-Johansson Disease Etiology / Epidemiology / Natural History

• Overuse syndrome of inferior pole of the patella
• Males > females. Generally 11-13 years old.

Sindig-Larsen-Johansson Disease Clinical Evaluation

• activity related anterior knee pain, worse with running, jumping, stairs.
• pain with active knee extention
• tenderness over inferior pole of patella

Sindig-Larsen-Johansson Disease Xray / Diagnositc Tests

• A/P and Lateral knee views indicated. Demonstrate fragmentation of inferior pole of patella best seen on lateral view

Sindig-Larsen-Johansson Disease Classification / Treatment

• Activity modification for 6 wks, ice, stretching, NSAIDs. Resume activities once symptoms abate.
