Flexor Tenosynovitis Anatomy

  • The flexor tendon sheath extends from the proximal end of the A1 pulley to the level of the distal interphalangeal joint.
  • Thumb flexor tendon sheath is contiguous with the radial bursa.
  • Small finger iflexor tendon sheath is contiguous with the ulnar bursa.
  • The radial and ulna bursae extend proximally to the carpal tunnel. In 50% to 80% of persons, the radial and ulnar bursae communicate.
