  • Torg ratio (sagittal diameter of the spinal canal is divided by the sagittal diameter of the corresponding vertebral body) < 0.8 = spinal stenosis.
  • Canal A/P diameter of less than 13mm = spinal stenosis (Pavlov H, Radiology 1987;164:771).

  • Athletes with cervical stenosis may not play in contact sports. Waivers noting that the patient is playing against medical advice do not indemnify the school or physician against lawsuits. (Mathias MB, Clin Sports med 2004;23:95).
